Let's Stretch Together!
Will You Stretch with Our Bridge Leaders?
Sometimes life gets harder and harder. Sometimes we lose friends and family just when we need them even more. And it’s at these times that we are most open to God.
And it’s during these times that God is faithful and provides – sometimes in ways we expected and sometimes not as we expected.
Indeed, life has gotten much harder for many people because of the inflation of the past few years, the increasing cost of housing, and the destruction created by violence, whether man-made or by natural disasters.
At times like this, we actually have a great opportunity. This is precisely when we want to empower more Bridge Leaders to share the amazing love of God.
Walter's Story
New immigrants in America often struggle with language, employment, and housing when they arrive. With your help, Bridge Leaders Walter & Cecilia and Bridge Leader Felipe provide food, clothing, counseling, and connections to local services, as well as the good news of God’s love in Jesus.
One immigrant, Tatiana, wrote:
“Thank you for your love and for your kindness… and the most important thing – you’ve stopped me from having more nightmares.”
Mike's Story
Your gift helped Extend Life through Bridge Leader Mike V- a computer engineer who uses his weekends to help disadvantaged students through computer trainings. One of those students is Jason who was only 15 years old when his family was on the brink of homelessness. Mike created a Bridges’ internship for Jason and just recently, Jason received an acceptance letter from one of the best universities in the United States, University of California, Berkeley!
Norm's Story
Grade school children across the country are in a desperate situation after Covid. Reading levels dropped precipitously. In Germantown, MD, 75% of low-income 2nd graders were behind and in danger of never catching up. With your help over the past year, Bridge Leader Norm and his group of community volunteers have Extended Life by educating over 20 children to help “catch up” with their reading skills to their grade reading level.
Pauline's Story
This generation grew up with phones and social media practically glued to their hands. Now, many 20-somethings are yearning for deeper connections and true purpose in their careers, relationships, and lives. Navigating a world filled with distractions and pressures is challenging, but Bridge Leader Pauline has launched “Pause, Sip and Ponder” to help her own generation.
The program offers purpose-driven events, creative safe spaces, and mental health resources, helping young adults thrive and contribute to our community using their unique gifts. “I wish I had this type of support when I was in my 20s,” said Jennifer, an appreciative mom who witnessed her daughter flourish through Pauline’s ministry.
Florence Story
Your gift helped Florence Extend Life working with unsupervised children in Pasadena after school essentially waiting to get into trouble. She has organized play and study groups. Moreover, she saw neighborhoods of people of color whose interaction with the Pasadena Police was often hostile — on both sides. Florence won community representation in communicating with the police department, which has helped both the community and the police to feel that they are partners in making the neighborhood safe.
You Can Help!
Our goal is to raise $300,000 in the three months ending December 31, 2024. Its $100,000 per month.
This goal seems like a stretch for us. And yet hard times are exactly when we find within ourselves the capacity to stretch the most.
These funds will enable BridgesUS to serve 50 more Bridge Leaders in the coming 12 months, with plans for 100 more in 2026.
In accordance with IRS guidelines for maintaining your ability to deduct your contribution from your taxes, through donating on this site you acknowledge that the Board of Directors of Bridges retains sole discretion for directing funds in accordance with the mission of Bridges.
